Newport Beach

Last weekend we took a trip down to Newport Beach with our friends the Davis'. We couldn't have asked for a better day. 

First we went to the Wedge, a place where the waves get huge because of the way the water comes in and bounces off the jetty. 

Van's got some sweet old man shorts. He loves to wear them up around his ribs.

This wave  is a lot bigger than it looks and it wasn't one of the bigger ones.

We took the ferry over to Balboa Island.

If you go to Balboa Island, you have to walk to Dad's to get a frozen chocolate banana.

And if you go to Newport, you have to go to the Crab Cooker, even if it means you walk about two miles to get there so that you don't have to find a new parking spot. In fact, all the better, because then you're nice and hungry.

 We had a great day and we're so glad Brandon and Jenika let us drag them around Newport Beach. Nate and I realized that we have been there at least once every year since we've been married. I think we'll just have to take a yearly trip out to California to keep it up.

I just love this little boy.

We may already be in trouble. Van unfastened his diaper.

Happy Birthday Nate! We had one of his favorite Peruvian dishes for dinner. It's called Lomo Saltado. We got the recipe from the Peruvian cooking class we took together last year.

Van's first time in the pool. He kind of didn't know what to think. He didn't hate it but he didn't love it.

Look at that Proctor mouth.

This is how he fell asleep. Too much fun at the pool.

This has been his eating position lately. When he knows the bottle is coming, he'll do this to get ready. Pretty funny.

All dressed up for Easter.

He looks so tiny in his high chair. Just waiting for some cereal, although he's not crazy about it.
